Brother of Traugott Kauapirura. He worked in Okanatjikuma (about 14 hours away of Omburo), where the people moved after leaving Otjosembona. The hope was that Joas would be employed as a permanent Evangelist later.1
Volunteer Evangelist at Okanatjikuma - branchstation of Omburo - in 1899, when Bernsmann was the local missionary at Omburo. "Auf dem Filial Okanatjikuma hat der freiwillige Evangelist Joas treu weiter gearbeitet. Miss. Bernsmann fand bei seinem Besuch im September [1899] über 20 Taufbewerber und ebenso viel Schüler. Eine Buschkapelle war bis auf die Bedeckung des Dachstuhls fertig."2
