Situa, Simson * ?, ? † . ELCIN Evangelist who was send to the South by his church.1 "The Kwanyama drive towards Christianity began at a time when there were no missionaries in the community, and proselytism was carried out by a few Christians who had been baptised by Rhenish missionaries, the most active among them being Simson Situa and Wilhelm Kafita." (Miettinen quotes his informant: Rakel Nailenge, interviewed 30.11.1998 in Engela and Healing the Land p. 95 as well as Peltola, Matti Suomen Lähetysseuran Afrikan työn historia (Sata vuotta suomalaista hähetystyötä 1859-1959, Vol. II). Suomen Lähetysseura, Helsinki 1958.)2 "Would you tell us about the situation of the missionaries after the death of King Madume? Soon after the death of King Mandume, all German missionaries returned to their respective country. There was one man called Simson, a disciple of the German missionary, who was a committed servant of God and who helped to disseminate the gospel of God among thousands of people in the country. The government, in close collaboration with the church leaders, also helped the words of God to grow roots among the people a great deal. Did many people turn to Christianity? Yes, so many people were converted to Christianity. The black churchmen who were left behind by the German missionaries were strong believers. They worked so hard that the majority of the people came to believe in God. Senior headmen who were left behind by King Mandume, such as Ueyulu and Kaluvi, had no hatred for the church."3 Während des WW1 verliert die RMS das Arbeitsgebiet unter den Kwanyamas. (BRMG 1917:19). Er [Simson] wolle treu aushalten, bis Gott alles wieder ordnen würde.4 Married: Children: Education: Other family members connected to RMS: Mission Stations: History with the RMS: 1 Nashongo. 2 Miettinen 2005:229. 3 Hayes 1997:95. 4 BRMG 1919:23. --------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------- ------------------------------------------------------------
