He did not completed the full course for teachers which lasted until 1929, but left the Augustineum on the 17.06.1927 and was send as Evangelist to Tsumeb.3 ELCRN Evangelist.4 His nanny fled with him from Ongandjera to Tsumeb after an attack on the homestead of his father, the chief of Ongandjera. Benjamin Shipepe grew up in Tsumeb under the care of his nanny and was treated as the rightful heir of the Ongandjera people. He worked at the mine and came in contact with the Ovambo-congregation in the town, which experienced an active revival in the 1920'tees. His baptism in the RMS congregation was an important event and attracted a big crowd of local people. He associated himself closely with the work of the RMS in Tsumeb during the time of RMS missionary Hochstraten and was send to the Augustineum in ??. After a year of studies he returned to Tsumeb and worked as an Evangelist under Hochstraten and Unterkötter.
