Started to work amongst the workers of the copper mine at Otjozonjati (outpost of Okahandja) in July 1907 (School, baptism class, church services).1
1909 Siekmann baptized 54 Herero and 2 Bergdamra at Otjozonjati, who were all instructed by Manasse and prepared for the baptism. "Leider mußte bald darauf der Evangelist Manasse entlassen werden, da er angeklagt war, die Arbeiter gegen ihre Vorgesetzten aufgewiegelt zu haben. Hoffentlich erweist sich die Anklage als unbegründet. Es ist anzunehmen, daß unlautere Elemente, welche von Manasse gestraft wurden, auf diese Weise an ihm Rache nehmen wollten."2
