Kaharee, Alexander * ?, ? † . Is it possible that he was a servant of RMS missionary Bernsmann in Omburo in January 1904? Bernsmann mentions him as "mein Diener".1 Bernsmann mentions his faithful servant at the beginning of the Herero war in January 1904. "Einige Leute vom Platz [Omburo], die mir gefolgt waren, gingen darauf sofort auf die Suche [nach dem Vieh, das Bernsmann gestohlen worden war]; andere, darunter mein Diener Alexander, waren schon vorher dem Vieh nachgefolgt, brachten auch am Abend einiges zurück."2 Mentioned by Altena as wandering evangelist together with Samuel Kariko3, According to JBRMG 1906:29 he was a volunteer Evangelist, stationed by Vedder in Jakalswater along the railway line.4 Mentioned by Spiecker as volunteer evangelist in Jakalswater 1906,5 "In the beginning of Oktober [1911], missionary Kuhlmann undertook a journey through the workarea of the helpers Samuel and Alexander. The journey was done by ox wagon from Omaruru along the railway line northwards up to Otjiwarongo and Okanjande. [...] During this two-week trip, 201 souls amongst the heathen were baptized."6 From the Church book in Omaruru it is obvious, that he had the right to baptize.7 The distribution of different places where they had to do their duties were as follow: 9 Gerhard of Omaruru, 10 Gottfried Tjiharine, 11 Samuel Kariko, 12 Alexander.8 Married: No name given. Bernsmann writes that the wife of Alexander helped Bernsmann's daughter [Bernsmann was a widow by that time] shortly after the beginning of the Herero war, when most of the Herero had already left the mission station.9 Children: Education: Other family members connected to RMG: The brother of Alexander (servant of Bernsmann) was Wilhelm, "[...] one of my best congregation members, who was held in high esteem" was instrumental in explaining Bernsmann the seriousness of the situation on the 15.01.1904 when Bernsmann gave protection to a German settler Mr. Fuchs in his house. Bernsmann who reminded the Wilhelm of the fact that he (Bernsmann) had also protected Herero folks against the Nama at Otjimbingwe back in the 1880's could however not prevent the men from entering his house and finally killing Fuchs.
