Of Rehoboth, Jacobus * ?, ? † . Mentioned in connection with the work of Kleinschmidt in Rehoboth but only called "Jacobus". He is referred to as a "Nama-Prediger" who was send out from Rehoboth by Kleinschmidt to preach to the "heathen around". He preached on the afternoon of the opening ceremony of the newly build church in Rehoboth on Pentecost 1847.2 When Kleinschmidt travelled to the Bay to pick up their children (who arrived with the Hahn's and the mission colonist from Germany, he stopped at Jacob Boois "Werft" at a "schönen fruchtbaren" place in the Swakop River not far from Geigamchab. Here, the old Piet Gertse with his people also lived. Kleinschmidt and Brinker found the place so suitable that they encouraged Jacobus to remain there, a suggestion which Jacobus also had beforehand. The text does however not state clearly, whether Jacobus really stayed behind.3 It is possible that he is identical with either Jakob Vries C:\LOCG\Privat\EvangelistenProjekt\ShortLink\214.doc or Jakob Lamberts C:\LOCG\Privat\EvangelistenProjekt\ShortLink\215.doc.
