She is a daughter of Hendrik Jod from his first wife. At the interview, Eva Jod, the second wife of Hendrik Jod was also present. Whenever I asked Sarah Jod something she would confirm it from her mother, before answering me. The following facts about the family were collected: Hendrik Jod attended school in Gibeon after which he joined the Police Force. After completing the school he joined the Police Force. The name of his father is not remembered. The name of his mother was Sarah Magdalena. His sister and brothers were: - Petrina married to Paulus Saal - Anna married to !Kausis - Trooi married to Keister - Anna married to Moses ya Johannes see 197.doc an evangelist amongst the Ovambos - Simon Hendrik Jod was married in his first marriage to Johanna Gamses (correctly written ??). She was born on 08.12.1914 in Gibeon and died in 1952 in Gibeon, where she was buried. The two of them had the following four children: - Johanna (lived in Gibeon in 2004) born 02.02.1936 in Gibeon - Johannes Alfred (lived in Okombahe in 2004) born 01.05.1947 in Keetmanshoop - Sarah (lived in Fransfontein in 2004 and was the informant) born 27.5.1950 in Keetmanshoop - Anna (lived in Khorixas, worked in the clinic in 2004 where I found her) born 26.01.1952 in Keetmanshoop When Gabriël Dawids started to work voluntarily in the congregation Gobabis in 1961, the following persons were also active there: Benjamin Eiseb (Eiseb was working in town and only help in the congregation on a voluntary base. Eiseb joined the Paulinum in the same year as Dawids). David Skrywer (was employed in the congregation Gobabis in June 1951). Henrik Jod (was a police man in Gobabis and worked on a voluntary base in the congregation. He joined the Evangelist course in 1965 in Otjimbingwe. In the documents of the Paulinum, Hendrik Jod is recorded as coming from Walfish Bay.)2 1966 stellt Diehl für seinen Deutschlandaufenthalt folgende Informationen zusammen: Es werden noch sechs Gemeinden von Evangelisten geführt (gegenüber 28 von einheimischen Pastoren geführten Gemeinden). (AELCRN VII 5 H.-K. Diehl Deutschland-Reise 1966). In 1956 Hendrik Jod married again. On 08.07.1956 he married Eva Vilander (born 17.10.1922). They were married by missionary H. Tötemeyer. Eva Vilander Father: Lukas Vries, Mother: Flora Vilander Grandfather: Johannes Vries Eva Vilander was born in Berseba and attended school in !Khainaxas (Krollenplaas??) They had the following three children together: - Sarah Madgadalena (lived in Windhoek in 2004) born 22.5.1953 - Abraham Jakobus born 1955, passed away - Floro Franzina, born 1.9.1957, passed away Am Sonntag, 24.10.1965 ist der Einführungsgottesdienst von RMG Missionar Walter Moritz in Swakopmund. Hendrik Jod hält eine "feine Begrüßungsansprache". Er hatte während der Vakanz die Gemeinde betreut. Da er die Sakramente nicht verwalten durfte, tat das in Abwesenheit von Kuhles, der RMG Missionar Kerstan.3 Hendrik Jod was in the Police Force and reached the rank of a sergeant, before he joined the RMS in 1961. He was stationed in Keetmanshoop, Aus and Gobabis, before he joined the Paulinum out of this position. It was Elifas Eiseb who advised him to go to the Paulinum. 1961 - 62 Paulinum 1963 - 64 Walvisbaai and Swakopmund 1964 - 66 Paulinum 1967 in Feb. he was send to Franzfontein in 1992 he resigned as a pastor of the ELCRN to join the Ministry of Local Government and Housing in Sesfontein in 1997 and 1998. He lived and worked in Franzfontein and Khorixas since 1967. In his report to the 9th Ordinary Synod from 27.09.-02.10.1981 in Otjimbingwe the preses reports, that Hendrik Jod (Khorixas) retired.4 Hendrik Jod wurde dann auch Pastor. Ihn besuchte ich mal in Franzfontein. He was from Maltahöhe and born 1919. He attended 3 years school in Maltahöhe. He probably did not work for a white employer before coming to the Augustineum. He was not married when joining the course. He spoke Nama. He completed the course with the examination on the 02.12.1938 and was send as a teacher to the RMS mission school at Maltahöhe.7 In einem Brief Vielhauers aus Duala, geschrieben am 27.04.1911 nennt Vielhauer die Personen, die er in dem Oster-Gottesdienst getauft und konfirmiert hat: Taufe: 1.) aus Gibeon: Jakobus und Johannes Jod, [...] 2.) aus Keetmanshoop: [...].8 Während des Ostergottesdienstes am 16.04.1911in Dschang taufte der Basler Missionar Vielhauer folgende Kinder: 1.) aus Gibeon: Johannes Jod, Sohn der Rebekka Jod, Johannes Klas, Sohn des Johannes K., Paul Lebe, Sohn des Pit L., Pit Markus, Sohn des + und Klas M.; Elisabeth Dom- rock, Tochter der Sana Domrock eines mgl. Dr Sigrid Schmidt berichtet in der Reihe "Afrika erzählt" Bd 6, " Scherz und Ernst, Afrikaner berichten aus ihrem Leben" S. 70 - 79 ausführlich über Kimm. Er war wiederholt in Deutschland und ich machte mit ihm eine Reise in den Süden im Frühling. Leider erblindete er dann. Evangelist Jod hat nach dem Weggang von Missionar Kukhles in Walvisbaai vetreten bis ich kam 1965. In Franzfontein war er dann Pastor. Seine Tochter traf ich vor einigen Jahren auf der Kringkonferenz in Kamanjab.
