Completed Std. II in 1925 and worked on the railway. "Ovambo" Attended evangelist course in 1955/1956 inaugurated as deacon afterwards RMG 2.651b p. 252,
Was issued with a certification of exemption from pass law in the rank as an Evangelist of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in S.W.A. from the headquarter Otjiwarongo in November 1961.1
Nikodemus Haufiku was working as a deacon in the congregation of Otjiwarongo under RMS missionary Scholz and after him under Wienecke. Wienecke describes him as intellectually not very bright. It became known in the congregation that he had made a girl pregnant and missionary Scholz reported the matter to the church council/board - as it was expected of him. Haufiku was therefore suspended/dismissed from his work as deacon. The event caused some uproar in the the congregation Otjiwarongo - especially amongst the members of the church council(??). Kariko - one of them - said to Scholz: " You have killed Nikodemus Haufiku!", by this expressing his upset about the fact that the missionary had excluded the deacon from the community.2
