At the age of 8, his parents took him to Windhoek, where he lived in the household of his grandmother to attend school.2 (The sources are contradictory about the number of years //Gowaseb attended the RMS school in Windhoek. While Baumann only states that he completed Std. III/Grade 5 in 1940,3 RMS missionary Werner mentions that he completed Std. V/Grade 7 in the class of RMS sister Frieda Schröder.4 Petrus //Gowaseb writes in the obituary that Paulus //Gowaseb completed his Std. VIII/Grade 10.) After completing school he was employed by the trading firm Metje & Ziegler in Windhoek as a worker. His application to join a course for evangelists was supported by the local RMS missionary Werner who confirmed that //Gowaseb had "[...] real good recommendations from all sides."5 In July 1955 he went to the Paulinum in Karibib to attend the evangelist "B" course which ended with the examination in December 1956.6 KL nach 24.-29.09.1967 3. In this position he signed the famous "Open Letter" of the two Lutheran Churches in Namibia (ELCIN and ELCRN). In 1972 he was elected as the vice "preses" of the ELCRN, a position he held until 1979. He retired in 1988 and lived on a farm near the Spitzkoppe till his death.
