Kaununika (Kaumunika), Wilhelm * ?, ? † . Mentioned by Büttner as a student in Augustineum1874 from Neu-Barmen, Wilhelm Kaumunika is mentioned as "[...] the great Wilhelm Kaumunika" together with Elia Kandirikirira in the text Nr. 70 of the "Prophet Book of Windhoek". This text, collected and written in an exercise book by Amon Keeja Kaakuha (born ca. 1890). The words of the prophets were read during the Wednesday and Saturday afternoon and evening meetings in the RMS congregation in Windhoek in the years 1946-48 and kept secret to the missionaries and other whites.1 In 1894 it is reported from Okahandja that Willem [sic] Kaumunika did not show much eagerness in his work and that he was sick over a longer period, so that he had to be replaced by Simson.2 "Willem, der Hereroschullehrer, ist noch immer derselbe wie am Anfang, er übt mit den Aeltesten einen guten Einfluß auf die Gemeinde aus. Die Treuen halten zusammen und kämpfen mit den Aeltesten entschieden gegen das Böse." Writes Meyer, during his work at Otjimbingwe in 1896.3 Married: Children: Education: Other family members connected to RMG: Mission Stations: History with the RMG: 1 Sundermeier 1973:297. 2 JBRMG 1894:35. 3 BRMG 1896:102. --------------- ------------------------------------------------------------ --------------- ------------------------------------------------------------
