Was suspended from his work in Otavi and send to Usakos Retired in 05.1965 and left to Olukonda.1 ELCRN pastor.2 Came with his parents to Outjo and Karibib in 1913.3 Attended the so called "second course" for teachers and Evangelists of Vedder at the Augustineum from 30.01.1928 (later than the actual commencing date) till the end of the teachers course on the 21.06.1929 and was send as a teacher to Walfishbay.4 Attended the 2 week long "Wiederholungskursus", led by Vedder, at the Augustineum in Okahandja, 05.01.-20.01.1936 with 39 other teachers from "Hereroland". He came from Tsumeb.5 Attended Augustineum 2. course from 1926 to 1929 at an age of 19 years. He was not married when in Augustineum. He came from Swakopmund before joining the course and was send to Walvisbai after the course. According to the records of Vedder he was "Omuambo" and spoke "Otjambo and Otjiherero".RMG 2.648 p. 28-33. Was intended for the course for itinerate evangelists in Paulinum from Feb. 1950, but "Ein Omuambo [sic] aus Swakopmund, Daniel Mutumbulua, der schon im Missionsdienst als Lehrer und Evangelist in Walfischbucht, Tsumeb und Maltahöhe stand, zuletzt aber im Dolmetscherdienst beim Magistrat in Swakopmund, meldete sich wiederum zum Evangelistendienst und soll zunächst nach Windhoek anstelle von Justus Vatilifa, der als Kontraktovambo für eine Zeit von 3 - 6 Monaten ins Ovamboland zurück muß. Nur habe ich zwei Bedenken: Wenn wirklich bei ihm hinsichtlich der Gefahr des Trinkens eine Schwäche vorliegt, - ich selbst habe ihn nie betrunken gesehen -, dann wäre ausgerechnet Otavi eine grosse Versuchung für ihn. Zum anderen hat er wohl Kenntnisse in der Namasprache, ob sie aber, nachdem er durch viele Jahre nur unter Ovambos und Herero arbeitete, noch so sind, dass sie für eine ausgesprochene namasprechende Gemeinde ausreichen, möchte ich fast bezweifeln. Ich hatte noch nicht Gelegenheit, mit Daniel zu sprechen, will ihn aber möglichst noch in diesen Tagen fragen."9 Kerstan mentions (in May 1961) the lonely position in which Pastor Mutumbulua finds himself, after the death of his wife Martha. He had to take his two small children with him on the farm-trips, because he had nobody to look after them in Otavi. His efforts to find a wife in Otavi were in vain, because "[...] good wives are difficult to find."10 Married: Married to: Marta (Martha) Negoli His first wife Martha died, no further dates given.
