Petrus Booi ("der Spielmann von Bethanien") and his son Jacobus Booi lived south of Rehoboth in 1856. (BRMG 1856:100). Jan Booi. The early leader of the Booi people, who led the Booische into Namibia in 1815. The Boois were one of the Orlam tribes of Nama who migrated from the Cape. Settled at Bethany, where he was a subject of David Christian. His son was Jacobus, both of them were allies of the Afrikanders. Jan was the father-in-law of Jonker Afrikaner. Jacobus Booi, the father-in-law of Jan Jonker Afrikaner. In the 1860s the elderly Jan Booi saw Jacobus Booi become leader of the Bethany Nama. Jacobus Booi succeeded Christian Afrikander as leader of the Bethany Namas after Christian died in 1863 in the battle of Otjimbingwe. Jacobus moved some of his people to Salem, in the lower Swakop Valley, but did not succeed to build a settlement there. He returned to the Bethany district. Jacobus and Jan Jonker Afrikaner led a series of raids in 1867 and 1868, e.g. against Otjimbingwe. In other attacks against Anawood, Salem, Heigamchab, Walfishbay and Rooibank they were more successful. When Jacobus joined Jan Jonker and Karel Ses to subjugate the Herero and drive all Whites from Namibia, they assembled their forces in Rehoboth. The Herero however heard about the planned attack and were able to withstand the trap that was set for them. In the process of beating off the opponents the entire Booi tribe was said to be destroyed. Jacobus managed to slip away, but soon died of fever.4 Married: Married on 08.12.1954 Hefila (no surname known), born ca. 1918 in Outjo Children: Elise 07.08.1953 Elisabeth 14.06.1955 Education: Other family members connected to RMS: Während des Ostergottesdienstes am 16.04.1911in Dschang taufte der Basler Missionar Vielhauer folgende Kinder: 1.) aus Gibeon: Johannes Jod, Sohn der Rebekka Jod, Johannes Klas, Sohn des Johannes K., Paul Lebe, Sohn des Pit L., Pit Markus, Sohn des + und Klas M.; Elisabeth Dom- rock, Tochter der Sana Domrock eines mgl.
